HOUSE VASKARIS

House Vaskaris is an ancient and powerful noble family hailing from Cynathyr to the far west, they are spoken to be one of the oldest family line of men. Once spanning the great west as a kingdom, they have left behind various schools of Magi, now the rule of the Deathstalker Empire, stripping the Vaskaris of their banners but never of their blood. Many within the Deathstalker Empire still use their schools for those mageborn. House Vaskaris supports their Deathstalker rule, though with little fondness for the tyrant Himself.

 

Obsessed with the strength of their linage, marriages are made not for political gain or love but that of magic. The clever use of politics and magic is the source of power for the family. They see themselves as the purest of magic users, even going so far as keeping that blood within the family. Sisters have married brothers. Fathers have taken daughters. The twisted corruption and addiction to keep that blood line pure speaks far more than most realize. Little does anyone know the true source behind the family’s power, that which they obsess over the most – their blood. For thin as it is, passed down between each generation, is the corruption of angel blood from one of the Fallen.

 

House Vaskaris’s sigil represents the strength of their blood, the purity of their linage, and the vast knowledge of their family. Two black dragons look out over the red and gold crest, the great watchers within the family, while still adorning the crown in which the House once held. Some members of the branch family do not have the crown. The circle of their livery collar shows both their place as an old noble line and houses of magic they represent.

 

Many within the family hold are seen as dark beings, though there are those that become an enigma within the House. Members of House Vaskaris are seen as deep in their emotions – extremes in many traits. It is said that those with little to no magic, seen as having weak blood, are not worthy of the name and many are cast out from the House. It is custom that once a child comes into their magic, they are taken from their parents and placed into one of the Houses schools of magic for there is no family line – or branch – stronger than another. There is only a strong member, always upholding the name Vaskaris. For this reason alone, those close in relations do not perceive a sibling, a parent, or relative like many would.

 

The House is ranked by the strength in the family line and the power of their magic. Those seen as worthy to be married into the family – always that of mageborn – are brought in to strengthen this line for future generations. The House has been known to embrace some species that are magically inclined while others are not allowed even within the halls of their schools. Those not allowed within the House are dwarves, trolls, goblins, and orcs. The races allowed are elves, wolven, fairy folk, and vampires. The males within the House are called Warlocks and the females are Sorceresses.

 

The Schools of the House are vast, ranging from Necromancy, Demonology, Elemental, Shapeshifting, Evocation, Magocracy, to even Soothsaying. Each member of the House will master one line of magic and study others over time. Also due to the magic in their blood, deciphering their age can be nearly impossible.
